Hi I am Dr. Brian Thalhamer, DC founder of Wellness Chiropractic in 1999. I graduated from Life Chiropractic College West in Hayward California that same year. I am a Sonoma County Native born in the city of Petaluma. I consider myself one of the truly blessed individuals that actually love what I do. I have always believed Chiropractic choose me I didn't choose Chiropractic. When you come to my office as many of my patients will testify it is my goal for each patient to be successful not only in health but in life as well. I am a motivator, a healer and a coach of healthy lifestyles. It is my professional purpose not just to get people out of pain but to change lives using advanced chiropractic care.
Here's my story: When I was 12 years old while playing pop-warner football I suffered my first lowback injury. I spent the next 7 years with Low Back pain. I would roll on footballs, basketballs anything to get some relief but it never really slowed me down, it just "Hurt!" Then one day when I was 19 years old while weight training for college baseball I really hurt my back. In the middle of a heavy squat something popped and I had shooting, burning pain down my right leg. Needless to say "I was scared" not to mention I could barely walk. As fate would have it my childhood friend that I was training with was a chiropractic patient. Just as many of "my" patients do...... he referred me to "His Chiropractor". That was the day my life changed forever. I have been a chiropractic patient ever since, which has ultimately improved and enhanced my life in more ways than I can express. As I look back over my life and all my experiences I realize there were many suggestions pointing me in the direction of becoming a chiropractor it just took me a few years to realize my destiny. As a matter of fact, hers is just one of the many stories which came from one of my elementary school classmates Burt W. he shared this story with me on my Facebook page:
"I feel indebted to tell you this since I see the profession you chose and I'm sure this story is close to the origins of it. I remember it very vividly a day you actually 'decompressed' my spine. Here is the surprising twist. We were both in the 5th grade! I'm not kidding, and I'm certain of this, because I remember it blowing me away. I don't know if you already have an 'I was doing this when I was in elementary school' story, but I will vouch for it... In fact, I can still tell you exactly how you did it... Maybe nothing has changed." (It has Burt)
"So here it is, your chiro-origins. My back was sore (my father always had me doing a lot of pick and shovel excavating old school style) and I was showing how I was using push pins as a distracting sensory to deal with it. You politely told me you had a better idea, asked me to cross my arms in front of my chest and you backed up to my back. At that point you reached behind, grabbed my elbows and bent over yourself, lifting me off the floor and essentially rolling me over a barrel. My back popped like a stick running down a washboard and after I got over the obligatory initial chiropractic scare reaction, I realized that felt really good. For the remaining 28 years I have been doing it to other people, but frankly, they never get it right in return... Needless to say, that was the first day I was impressed with your maturity. You don't expect that from a 5th grader. Even if you are in 5th grade yourself." (Burt W.)
That is a true story!
I look forward to becoming a part of your health team and having an opportunity to change your life!
In good health and God Bless,
Dr. Brian Thalhamer, DC
Dr. Ben Spencer was raised in Santa Rosa, California; graduating from Piner High School and the Santa Rosa Junior College. He attended the University of Utah where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He then completed his Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) degree at the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon, graduating in 2008. Dr. Ben Spencer remained in Southwest Washington State practicing for 3 additional years before returning home to Santa Rosa.
Dr. Ben Spencer has always been inspired and awed by the complexity of the human body and its natural ability to heal itself. Therefore, he was naturally drawn to the field of health care. His interest in chiropractic medicine began in his youth as he watched his family and friends struggle with health concerns that traditional medicine could not effectively address. This desire fostered a determination in Dr. Ben Spencer to become a sincere and caring doctor, employing a conservative healing approach as an alternate to medicinal or surgical intervention. He is a strong believer in the power of self-efficacy and has confidence in each patient’s ability to improve their health. Dr. Ben Spencer’s mission is to enrich the lives of the people around him through education and compassionate care.
When Dr. Ben Spencer isn’t treating patients he enjoys spending time with his wife, surfing, playing soccer, and exploring the beautiful outdoors. He currently serves in his community, church, and is a youth leader for the Boy Scouts of America. He is fluent in Spanish and loves serving the Latin community.
